Puzzle games are always fun to play, but if a game like RiME comes along, the fun multiplies several folds. RiME is an adventure-puzzle video game developed by Tequila Works back in 2017. The game was released on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows. The Amazon Luna version appeared alongside the service late 2020. The game follows the journey of a boy who must solve five large puzzle levels to get off of a mysterious island.
Story
RiME starts intriguingly and ends the same way as well. You play the character of a boy who finds himself on a strange island with a large obelisk-like structure in the middle. The boy soon meets a spirit-fox that helps him navigate the island and solve the puzzles that come in the way. During the game, the boy starts getting flashbacks, and he begins to slowly realize how he ended up on the island. He meets a mysterious old man in a red cape that seems to disappear before the boy can reach him.
RiME is an epic story of loss and survival. The players will love the ending as well as the message that the game portrays.
Gameplay
RiME is based in a third-person viewing perspective, so you see the characters as he moves through the island solving puzzles. The character can climb, jump, run, and push or pull objects on the island. The harder the puzzle, the more actions you will have to perform to solve it. Furthermore, you can control the character to sing or shout near-certain statues and figures. Such an action can open secret doors that can be useful in your adventure.
Final Thoughts
RiME is an intriguing game that requires a lot of the player’s attention. The puzzles are often challenging and difficult to solve. You must use clever ways to solve the various puzzles, often thinking out of the box. Therefore, RiME is a game for both adults and youngsters who love challenges and finding solutions.
