StreamWorld Dig was developed by Image & Form Games back in 2013. The game follows the Metroidvania genre and is available on all the major gaming platforms including PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One with the Amazon Luna version releasing with the launch of the platform. StreamWorld Dig belongs to the StreamWorld game series that currently consists of a few other titles.
Gameplay
StreamWorld Dig follows the exploits of a mining steamboat Rusty who is out on an adventure to unravel the secrets lying beneath an ancient mine. However, there are not only riches to uncover, a threat hides in the mine’s depths that Rusty needs to tackle. You get several choices while you are playing the game as Rusty. How deep you dig how you fight against the underground creatures and how many riches you can collect is all dependent on the way you play the game. The different game levels are designed based on Steampunk style old Western themes. You get to witness extremely challenging levels throughout the game that test your abilities. You have with you a pickaxe and some dynamite to make your way through the mines while a health bar measures your remaining lives.
Graphics
Graphically, the game is beautifully designed and offers an immersive experience. It shows that the entire focus is on the development of characters, the stages, and the game universe. You will see beautiful artwork throughout the game with terrorizing characters, slimy dungeons, and laser shooting guns gracing the various levels. The animations are short yet wonderful and in most cases enough to bring out the character’s personality and do justice to the game physics.
Final Thoughts
If you are looking for a game on Amazon Luna that is fun to play by yourself, then StreamWorld Dig is the best time killer! The interesting and challenging stages throughout the game keep you busy and stuck to the screen. In modern times, that’s the best you can ask for from a 7-year-old game. A classic on Amazon Luna!
StreamWorld Dig
StreamWorld Dig is a fantastic game however it is a bit short (around 4 hours). Still worth a playthough especially on Amazon Luna where this game is included in the Luna+ subscription!
